When
fishing at venues such as Makings, Heyford, Moorlands, etc it became apparent
the fish could feel the resistant's caused by heavy pole floats and would let go
of the bait and light pole floats would give poor presentation in windy
conditions . So a float that was light and stable was needed . So began my
search for this type of float. Whilst in a pub at Wolvey ( not having a pint ) I
was making a draw to fish a match at Makins I bumped into a old canal mate who
makes pole floats . After a short discussion with Mick Basset these floats were
made . This pattern of float is designed to be very stable in choppy water and
strong surface skim. In these conditions most anglers opt for a bigger and
heaver pole floats , but in the heavily matched fished carp waters where the
carp are weary of resistant's caused by a slightly heaver pole float less bites
are the result . So what is needed is a float capable of coping with these
conditions but taking no more than four No. ten shot or six No. ten shot in
extreme weather. This is achieved by a cane tip of approx one and a half
inch in length and 1.2 mm in diameter added to this is a high buoyancy pair
shape body made from top grade bowlsa and high quality heavy carbon. Resulting
in a very stable and strong pole float pattern. The added benefits of the long
cane tip which is only 1.2 mm in diameter is that it is very sensitive . The
extra tip length enables the angler to read his bites according to which bait he
or she may be fishing at any one time. It also allows you to fish with the body
of the float well below the ripple in the water and under the surface skim
giving you perfect presentation . Due to the extra length of the tip. Bigger
bates i.e.: CORN ,MEAT, WORM, plus small pieces of ,PASTE, can be fished on
these floats . This pole float is also perfect for ,PELLET, as well as your standard,
MAGGOT, and, CASTER, bait's making for a good all round float in still water's
of 1 - 4 Ft. Take it from me they really work , most impressed with this float .
