My Views on the "Micky'B" pattern

Now this pattern has an identical body to the 3x10 Micky but the short Titanium stem gives it casting weight and makes the float sit as soon as it hits the water and for the type of fishing I designed it for that's a must. The reason for the fibre tip being: These small carp do get caught often and the added sensitivity does actually put extra fish in the net over a 3 hour period (the length of an evening match). You can actually catch fish in the top 2in. (50mm) of water with this float and once you have sorted the feeding technique it's easy, as most of the time the bites are so confident there's no strike needed. (the elastic comes out you lift the pole the fish exits the water, simple!!)

Now for feeding, it has to be squatt (Crazy but true). I've tried to make it work with other baits but to no avail and it only works in the evening!! The quantities I am using is staggering and can be anything from 4 pints to 8 pints and in 3 hours that's a lot to put in. This is where the technique comes in and you have to feed between 15 and 20 squat's every 5 to 10 seconds for the whole 3 hours and that could be 1,800 times during a frantic session  and still hook and land fish. If at any time you stop feeding then so do the fish or bites become erratic and you suffer really bad liners. I am so confident with this method at Holly farm and can catch up to 20 fish on the same squatt attached to a 14 hook and 3lb line. The feeding really is the key and I always have 4 or 5 identical rigs made up for this reason. Because the float has no shotting tangles are few and generally just shake out. Another trick is to keep the fish about 3mtrs. out and not to take fish from exactly the same hole, take 1 at say 11 o'clock then 12 then 1 o'clock, then back to 11 o'clock again  but continue feeding the same place. It does take some getting used to but like they say practice makes perfect. You also sleep well after 3 hours fishing like this!!!
