Heyford Fishery
was constructed in 1990 as Britain's first purpose-built match fishery. It
provides a superb fishing venue for both match and day-ticket anglers.
The fishery is designed to produce fish equally from all 127 pegs and is now established as one of the most consistent fisheries in the Midlands, attracting top anglers from all over the U.K.
The main water is 1250 metres long, 13 metres wide and 2 metres deep, with an identical bank profile over the whole length. The abundant spring-fed water supply assures a constant water level throughout the year.
In a secluded area of the fishery there is a 3/4 acre lake containing specimen carp up to 22lb. and other species. Established in 1983, it has matured well to provide up to 9 anglers with a challenging alternative to the fisheries main water. Surrounded by trees and shrubs, the fishing is well screened from all the elements.
In 1996 a half-acre lake was constructed for juniors (under 16).This lake is absolutely packed (solid) with small fish of all species, ensuring everyone catches.
The fishery now boasts a brand new purpose built brick building which houses a much larger cafeteria area and a tackle shop where a wide range of tackle (including M.B. Carp Specials) and bait is available. Gents, ladies and disabled toilet facilities are also an integral part of the new facilities.
